Tasks panelists to uphold standards and values of the examination
The Commander, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Kevin Aligbe, on Monday, 30th September, 2024, inaugurated the Examination Panel for 2024 Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE) at the Owena Cantonment officers' Mess, Headquarters of 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, Ondo State. In his remarks, he congratulated the Members of the Examination Panel for the unique opportunity to serve and challenged the not to compromise the correct standards and values of the examination. He further stated that their nomination to participate in the exercise was based on their honesty, high level of integrity and professional competence.
The Commander TRADOC, who is also the Examination President, also said that the purpose of the conversation was to set the tone for their involvement in producing thought-provoking questions for the candidates' assessment as they fortify the foundation of their career progression.
Maj Gen Aligbe therefore charged the 24- member panel to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their responsibilities. He also stressed that the setting of the examination must be realistic and innovative in line with the current security challenges the Nigerian Army is contending with in the country. He also added that the examination should help the NA to produce problem-solving officers in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy. The Commander reminded the panellists that they have come to assess the officers who are to work with them in meeting the objectives of national defence and security imperatives.
Earlier in his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Obinna Onubogu, whose formation is hosting the exercise, represented by Commander, 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General John Lar, welcomed the Commander TRADOC NA and his team to Akure for the conduct of CMPPE 2024 and congratulated the panelists for their well-deserved nomination.
Maj Gen Onubogu further stated that it was an honour for the 2 Division Nigerian Army to be considered for the hosting 2024 CMPPE and also for 32 Artillery Brigade to be the host formation. He also said that such examination is a critical step in the career progression of NA officers of the rank of Captain, urging them to display utmost honesty, commitment and professionalism in the discharge of their duty.
The GOC further described the examination as a catalyst for career progression of the candidates adding that it will equip the candidates with requisite knowledge that will help them in playing active roles in support of the NA in meeting the objectives of the nation's defence and security.
He assured the Examination President and his team of the readiness of 2 Division NA in ensuring a hitch free examination and drew the attention of the panellists on the need for them to be individually and collectively security conscious.
The ceremony had in attendance the representatives of the Director General Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre (NAHFC ), Chief of Training (Army), Chief of Army Standard and Evaluation and Acting Director Examination TRADOC NA as well as observers amongst others.
Prior to the inauguration ceremony, the panelists had undergone a special training session to refresh their memories which was co-ordinated by the Acting Director Examination TRADOC NA, Brig Gen Godwin Nwamba.
The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Kevin Aligbe, on Sunday 4th August 2024 inaugurated the Examination Panel for 2024 Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination (SSCQE) with a challenge to members to be above board.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Joseph Garba Hall, Post Graduate School of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna in Kaduna State.
Maj Gen Aligbe who doubles as the Examination President, charged the sixty - six panelists to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He stated that their nomination to participate in the exercise was based on thier high level of integrity, honesty and professional competence.
The Commander TRADOC NA therefore urged them to be above board and to adhere to these principles of fairness, thoroughness and uprightness in the conduct of the examination.
Maj Gen Aligbe added that as responsible and diligent senior officers of the NA, they must shun all acts that could undermine the sanctity of the examination.
He therefore congratulated them for the unique opportunity to serve and enjoined them to put in their best .
The Examination President also emphasized on the criticality of the SSCQE as one of the core determinants of the candidates career progression which must be handled by panelists based on objectivity and transparency as contained in the NA Examination Charter.

Maj Gen Aligbe reminded the panelists of the guidelines guiding the setting of the examination pursuant to the Nigerian Army standard in order to achieve smooth conduct of the examination.
He added that they must be meticulous and fair in setting the examination towards achieving the end state of prodding the officers' ability to solve problems rather than seeing the examination as a weeding process.
Going forward, he also stated that the examination should help the the NA to produce problem-solving officers in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy which is "To transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, well equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving our constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment”.

Training and Doctrine Command Nigeria Army (TRADOC NA) held a Study Period facilitated by the Department of Research and Development. The Study Period was geared towards providing solutions to contemporary challenges in the country through the use of research and development.
Declaring the Conference opened on Monday, 21 November 2022 at the TRADOC NA Auditorium, the representative of the Commander TRADOC, Brigadier General A Israel said most of the inventions and patent the world enjoys can be ascribed to the research interventions carried out by the military, most especially in the areas of communication and engineering. He therefore implored participants to listen and contribute meaningful on ways to improve Research and Development efforts of the Nigerian Army.
The theme of the Study Period was "Enhancing Nigerian Army Successes Through Research and Development Efforts in a Joint Environment". The study period featured intellectual discourse by military experts and academicians from civil institutions which dwelled on topical issues with emphasis on the implications and way forward in Nigeria. In attendance were the Chief of Research Development Test and Evaluation, Maj Gen S Ibrahim, Director Army Training Support Center, Brig Gen A Israel, Directors, Deputy Directors of the Command, Officers, soldiers and Corps members. Highlight of the events was the Presentation of Souvenirs and group photograph.
The Deputy National Coordinator, National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapon, Maj Gen EC Ekwesi, accompanied by Zonal Coordinator, North Central, Maj Gen HI Bature (Rtd) and other members paid a courtesy visit to Headquarters, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA).
Gen Ekwesi explained thatthe proliferation and stockpiling of illicit weapons continue to threaten both national and international peace and security thereby, exacerbating the plight of civilians in strife-torn countries worldwide. He spoke on the mandates of removing all arms in the security agencies' inventories that are unserviceable, as well as creating a database of all the arms in the custody of security agencies In his remarks, the Commander TRADOC NA Maj Gen SO Olabanji was emphatic on the need to stop the production and proliferation of locally made small arms which pose serious national security threats. He opined that technical expert can regulate and leverage on the local skills to build on the existing technology for production of small arms. MajGen Olabanji assured the delegation of the continues support of the Command in realizing their mandates. He urged them to take this national assignment as a critical service to the nation.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has assured the nation, that the Nigerian Army (NA) will not fail Nigerians in delivering on its constitutional mandate to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation, as well as provide support to civil authority in mitigating threats to national security. Gen Yahaya gave the assurance on Friday 11 November 2022 at Kontagora, while addressing troops at the fire power demonstration phase of Exercise MUGUN BUGU. Elucidating further, the COAS disclosed that the exercise is the first of its kind, where all combat arms and combat support arms Training Schools of NAcome together for a final joint training exercise. Gen Yahaya pointed out that training is key to professionalism, describing it as one of the pillars of his philosophy of command. He added, that it is only through training that troops could internalize, practice and perfect the employment of skills and competences, along with requisite equipment, communication and other enablers for the effective conduct of operations and discharge of the constitutional mandate of the NA.
The COAS averred that the combined exercise would ensure effective and result-oriented training that would incorporate multimodal training activities aimed at tackling contemporary security challenges, as well as eclipsing threats that may arise in future. Gen Yahaya urged the troops to put lessons learnt from the exercise into practice in their respective formations and units, as they tackle threats to national security. Speaking during the exercise, the Commander Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Maj Gen SO Olabanji, asserted that the Command would continue to engage in training activities geared towards supporting the NA to actualize its drive for a professional and responsive Army.

The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Stevenson Olabanji, has charged members of the Examination Panel for Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE) 2022, to continue to add value to the system by upholding the sanctity and transparency of the CMPPE processes. He made the charge on Sunday, 9 October 2022 while addressing members of the Examination Panel at 3 Brigade Officers' Mess Bukavu Barracks, Kano.
Speaking further, Major General Olabanji enjoined the Panel to be guided by the principles of fairness, objectivity and transparency in carrying out their duties. He urged them to use the opportunity and the confidence reposed on them by the NA leadership to produce officers who will discharge their duties professionally and effectively, particularly in operations.
Similarly, in a combined address to both members of the Directing Staff (DS) and Candidates on Sunday, 16 October 2022, the Commander TRADOC NA further emphasized on the need for realistic and objective assessment of the whole process that the candidates will undergo in the course of the exercise. Furthermore, he stressed that“the NA creates a new regime and template for effective training and retraining of its personnel in all her training institutions with the view to producing well trained, highly professional and motivated manpower”. He warned all those involved in the examination against any attempt to circumvent and compromise any aspect or process of the examination, as doing that will surely attract severe sanctions. He also said that “we must guarantee the sanctity, objectivity, security and integrity of the examination processes at all times".
He used the opportunity to remind the Directing Staffs and candidates that the general election is fast approaching and there is therefore the necessity for the NA personnel to remain apolitical and neutral in line with the Chief of Army Staff's directive. He reminded them that already Code of Conduct guiding troops' conduct before, during and after the elections has been circulated to all the formations and units of the NA for strict compliance in line with the Chief of Army Staff's directive.
Earlier in his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division NA Major General TA Lagbaja ably represented by the Commander 3 Brigade, Brigadier General JO Are welcomed the TRADOC team to the Brigade. He said the objective of the examination is to broaden the knowledge and understanding of the candidates on various aspects of military operations with emphasis on Internal Security Operations, Hybrid Operations, Counter Terrorist and Counter Insurgency Operations in line with the Nigeria's security challenges. He charged them to obey the examination's rules, work hard and be courageous, as it serves as a key determinant for success in examination. He further emphasized that "adequate arrangements for security, logistics, administration and welfare for the conduct of the examination have been made. General Lagbaja thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya for giving the Division the opportunity to host the examination and for providing the required financial and moral support/resources for the smooth conduct of the examination. Highlights of the event include; Commander's address, interactive sessions with the Candidates, DS clinic, Physical Training Demonstrations, Routes Marking and group photograph among others.
The commendation on the excellent level of synergy between the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air force was handed down at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) 455 Base Services Group (BSG) Kano on Thursday 13 October 2022. This was emphasized during the Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Stevenson Olabanji courtesy visit to the Commander, 455 BSG Kano, Air Commodore LI Kamat. General Olabanji expressed appreciation for the support rendered to the TRADOC NA team during the preparatory phase of the Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE) 2022 in Kano.
While commending the synergy of efforts between NAF 455 BSG Kano and 3 Brigade NA, Commander TRADOC NA mentioned that, "this cooperation no doubt has enabled the peaceful and secured environment in Kano State, which was instrumental to the decision of the TRADOC NA in choosing Kano State for the CMPPE 2022". Commander TRADOC NA reiterated that this gesture of jointness is in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya, which encourages conduct of joint operations among services and other security agencies in defence of Nigeria. He therefore, implored the Commanders to sustain the collaborative efforts in creating a safe and secured environment, especially in view of the forthcoming general elections.
In his response, Air Commodore Kamat thanked the Commander for the visit and guidance. He assured him that the good working relationship between the two formations will be sustained. The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Niger State Command, Corps Commander Kumar Sukwam has commended the Nigerian Army (NA) for providing its facilities at the Nigerian Army Training Center Kontagora in Niger State and Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji Kaduna for the training of its personnel on a regular basis. Mr Sukwam made the statement when he paid a courtesy call on the Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) Minna, Maj Gen Stevenson Olabanji on Thursday 6 October 2022.
The Sector Commander who led a delegation to HQ TRADOC, used the opportunity to appreciate the TRADOC NA and the NA at large for their cooperation, partnership and collaboration especially in the area of training and retraining of their personnel. He further briefed the Commander on the current focus/activities of the FRSC in Niger State and brought out some areas for mutual cooperation.
In his response, Maj Gen Olabanji thanked Mr Sukwam and members of his entourage for the visit and urged him to maintain the level of cooperation and collaboration with the NA in the state. Gen Olabanji stated that "every agency of government - security and paramilitary - are all working towards for the attainment of overall national security objectives, which is mainly to ensure the security of lives and properties of Nigerians". He also said the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya is an advocate of cooperation and collaboration with all security agencies and paramilitary organizations, and has already given directive to commanders to cooperate and collaborate with other security agencies in their respective areas of responsibilities for the attainment of national security objectives. The major highlight of the event was the presentation of TRADOC plaque to the sector Commander.

Speaking during the decoration ceremony on Monday 26 September 2022 at the TRADOC NA auditorium, he stressed the need for the officers to devote more efforts and be ready to render more selfless services to the NA.
Maj Gen Olabanji added that the system is becoming increasingly competitive, hence officers should endeavor to improve on themselves by getting acquainted with different aspects of their profession. He said "personal development does not only mean going for formal courses, but making good use of your free time to improve your knowledge". Speaking further, the Commander stressed that as an officer in the Nigerian Army you must lead by example, show empathy to subordinates and family without compromising discipline and standard.
Speaking earlier at the occasion, some senior officers advised the newly promoted officers to redouble their efforts to enable them satisfactorily discharge expected tasks, citing that all promotions are accompanied with additional responsibilities. The promoted officers are Maj DO Ighodaro, Maj IO Abubakar, Maj S Solomon and Maj B Itokighi. Speaking on behalf of the decorated officers, Maj B Itokighi thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya for the elevation and promised their commitment and total loyalty to the system.
The Chief of Training (Army), Maj Gen AB Ibrahim declared the Research & Development Conference and Curriculum Harmonization Workshop 2022 close. The Chief of Training (Army) who was represented by the Acting Director of Linkages and Integration, Brig Gen LA Lebo made the declaration on Thursday 8 September 2022. While commending the excellent conduct of the conference, Maj Gen Ibrahim urged the participants to sustain the commendable research efforts as displayed during the exhibition phase of the conference. He equally emphasized that the outcomes from the Conference should be reflected in the Nigerian Army (NA) schools' curriculum in order to enhance teaching and learning.
Earlier, the Chief of Research Development Test and Evaluation, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen S Ibrahim urged the participants to take note of critical areas that require research so as to avoid duplicity of functions in their curriculum development. He submitted that "Research and Development (R&D) must be in line with the NA operations and training, and you must ensure thedocumentation of your activities".
Also speaking, the Chief of Training TRADOC NA, Maj Gen JAL Jimoh lauded the efforts of the NA Schools' Deputy Commandants and Division Training Officers for their tireless efforts to ensuring the NA personnel are better trained and the teaching and learning environments are kept conducive.
Reflecting on the outcomes of exhibition phase, Gen Jimoh averred that, the R&D in the NA is evolving fast and that will eventually reduce dependence on others for our equipment needs. He therefore, implored the NA training institutions to strengthen their training packages, R&D efforts to produce indigenous military equipment and enhance professionalism. The Conference featuredpractical demonstration of curriculum development byastute resource persons/academicians and participants.

In his lecture, he emphasized that the Nigerian Army has Policy that guides the conduct of the NA personnel in both internal and external operations as it concerns SEA.

Training and Doctrine Command Nigeria Army (TRADOC NA) held a joint conference on Research & Development (R & D) and Curriculum Harmonization 2022 for Nigerian Army (NA) Schools in Abuja. Declaring the Conference open the Chief of Training (Army) Maj Gen AB Ibrahim, who was represented by Maj Gen OT Olatoye, stressed on the need to constantly explore inward to provide workable solutions to security challenges facing the country. He therefore, urged participants to diligently deliberate and come up with suggestions and recommendations that would improve the system. He cited R & D as veritable search light leading to clear path for ultimate solutions to addressing contemporary challenges.
The first phase of the conference was on Research and Development with the theme [The Research and Development Efforts amidst National Security Challenges ]organized by Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA)] it was aimed at providing forum for sound intellectual discourse among different stakeholders from NA formations and the academia. During the conference, there was exhibition of several materials and equipment which were products of various research efforts/findings through collaboration and partnership. The Day-1 event commenced on Monday, 05 September 2022 at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) featured thought provoking and in-depth analysis on different topics presented by erudite scholars and discussed by carefully selected competent Moderators and Discussants.
Speaking on the topic " Rejigging the National Security Architecture: The Nigerian Research and Development Efforts in Perspective", Prof CBN Ogbogbo emphasized the need for huge investment and allocation of resources for Research and Development efforts. Meanwhile, Brig Gen SD Makolo presented a paper on " Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, the Nigerian Army Policy on Prevention and Response". He explained that the Nigerian Army has Policy that guides the conduct of the NA personnel in both internal and external operations as it relates to sexual exploitation and abuse.
Earlier, the Chief of Research Development Test and Evaluation, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General S Ibrahim urged the participants to take note of critical areas that require research so as to avoid duplicity of functions in their curriculum development. He said "Research and Development (R & D) must be in line with the NA operations and training, and you must ensure that you document your activities".
The second phase of the conference was on curriculum harmonization in NA Schools. The aspect [of the curriculum harmonization for the NA Schools] generated discussions and clarifications on [some pertinent aspect of] the formulation of curriculum for schools. This was following the lectures presented by Brig Gen SS Ibrahim on “Process of Developing and improving Course Content for Military Training”. Dr Bala Shehu also delivered a lecture on “Curriculum Development and its impact on learning: An Appraisal” aimed at enhancing the competence of schools to craft their curriculum with due cognizance to the aim of the course as well as vision of the Chief of Army Staff [which is to have “A professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions in a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria”]. The conference engendered deep discussions and was very rewarding.
In the remarks of the Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji, ably represented by the Chief of Training (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen JAL Jimoh lauded the efforts of the NA Schools' Deputy Commandants and Division Training Officers for their tireless efforts to ensuring the NA personnel are better trained and the teaching and learning environments are kept conducive. Reflecting on the outcomes of exhibition phase, Major General Jimoh averred that, the R & D in the NA is evolving fast and that will eventually reduce dependence on others for our equipment needs. He therefore, implored the NA training institutions to strengthen their training packages, R & D efforts to produce indigenous military equipment and enhance professionalism in the system.
The Chief of Training (Army), Maj Gen AB Ibrahim who was represented by the Acting Director of Linkages and Integration, Brig Gen LA Lebo declared the conference closed on Thursday 08 September 2022. While commending the excellent conduct of the conference, he urged the participants to sustain the commendable research efforts as displayed during the exhibition phase of the conference. He equally emphasized that the outcomes from the curriculum harmonization should be reflected in the Nigerian Army (NA) schools' curriculum in order to enhance teaching and learning.
The Conference featured practical demonstration of curriculum development by astute resource persons/academicians and participants. In participation were observers from Army Headquarters' Departments of Transformation and Innovation, and Standard and Evaluations, Director General NARC, Executive Director NARC Consult, Deputy Commandants of all NA schools, Divisions Training Officers amongst others. Highlights of the Conference were the group photograph and presentations of plaques.
In line with ongoing drive to motivate and encourage effective regimentation across Nigerian Army formations and units by the Chief of Army Staff,
Lt Gen F Yahaya; the Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen Stevenson Olabanji presented a brand new Toyota Hilux vehicle to the TRADOC NA Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), Army Warrant Officer (AWO) Kazir Mohammed on Thursday 18 August 2022.
During the event, Maj GenOlabanji said that, the presentation of vehicle is part of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya's gesture to boost the moral of AWOs and promote policy of reward for selfless service in the Nigerian Army.
He further affirmed, that AWOs are the custodian of regimentation, thus this will serve as examples to young soldiers and the Senior Non- Commission Officers (SNCO) to put in their best in carry out various military duties as expected.
He therefore, charged AWO Kazir to remain dedicated and steadfast in instilling discipline and regimentation among personnel of the Command.
Highpoints of the event were the presentation of Souvenirs, gift items, and group photograph among others.
The Commander TRADOC NA performed a send - off ceremony in honour of 5 posted out officers from the Command.
While acknowledging and commending their dedication and hardwork,
Gen Olabanji urged them to continue to serve as good ambassador of the Command wherever they found themselves.

The former Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) Major General SU Abdulkadir (rtd) urged Nigerians to ensure peace and security reign in the nation by supporting the Nigerian Army in their fight against insurgency in the country.
Speaking during a Dinner Night for the successful conduct of the Senior Staff Qualifying Examination (SSCQE) 2022 at 1 Division Officers' Mess Kaduna, Maj Gen Abdulkadir (rtd) stressed that Nigeria is the only home and urged the NA personnel to fight against every vices that threatens the peace, unity and corporate existence of Nigeria.
While commending the efforts of the Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji, he described as a resolute and a man of high integrity, hence he is not surprise by the laudable successes achieved by TRADOC in recent times.
He expressed delight that Maj Gen Olabanji has improved on the sanctity, security and integrity of all NA examinations, thus upholding the cherished motto of TRADOC NA: “TOWARDS GREATER HEIGHTS” in all aspects of its core functions.
Earlier, the Commander TRADOC NA expressed his appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya for providing the necessary support needed in ensuring that the examination was successfully conducted.
He reiterated the commitments of the Command to reposition all NA training institutions for optimal performance.

The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General SO Olabanji urged members of the Examination Panel and Directing Staff for the Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination (SSCQE) 2022 to continually uphold the virtue of integrity and good character.
He drew their attention on the need to uphold the sanctity, security and integrity of examination processes throughout the examination period.
Maj Gen Olabanji, who is also the Examination President, stressed the need to produce officers with impeccable characters, capable of tackling the contemporary security challenges bedeviling the country.
He made this assertion while addressing members of the Examination Panel and Observers on Sunday, 24 July 2022, at the Ihejirika Auditorium in Jaji Cantonment, Kaduna State.
He noted that in line with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) vision, the onus has been placed on TRADOC NA to create a new regime for realistic training for the Nigerian Army (NA).
Hence, NA training institutions are being repositioned to train officers and men who can collectively achieve the objective of the COAS.
Maj Gen Olabanji tasked the members of the Examination Team to stay above board in conduct, integrity and uprightness, as examination is not meant to weed off officers from the service, but to improve their capacity and capability in discharging their constitutional responsibilities.
He added that they were selected based on their known abilities and uprightness, thus they have and should uphold the trust the system has reposed in them by diligently carrying out their tasks without prejudice.
Earlier in his welcome address to the TRADOC NA and Examination teams, the Chief Host and Commander Infantry Corps, Maj Gen VO Ezugwu appreciated the COAS for his continuous support by ensuring that officers of the NA are properly trained, adding that Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre (HQ ICC) will ensure that the security and administration of all participating members are adequately handled.
He expressed the preparedness of the HQ ICC to make this examination the best conducted in recent times.
The Commander ICC thanked the COAS for providing adequate logistics required for the hosting and smooth conduct of the examination.
In continuation with the series of activities lined up for the SSCQE 2022, the Examination President advised the candidates to be diligent and hardworking in pursuance of their career and academic excellence within the ambit of the law, as there is no short cut to success.

In line with the programmes lined up for NADCEL 2022, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) observed the Inter-Denominational Service for the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2022. The Inter-Denominational Church Service was conducted at St Mary Catholic Church (RC), Minna Military Cantonment (MMC) on Sunday, 3 July 2022. The representative of the Commander TRADOC NA, Brig Gen CA Atakiled other Christian faithfuls to observe the inter denominational church service. During the service, he delivered the Goodwill Message of the Chief of Army Staff on behalf of the Commander.
The Officiating Chaplain, Lt Col BA Adegoke preached on the theme“Promoting Unity Through Religious Co-existence”.During his sermon, he emphasised that religious harmony and peaceful coexistence were necessary prerequisites for prevalence of peace and development in any society.He urged the Christian faithfuls to be their brother’s/sister’s keepers and embrace the spirit of love and forgiveness in their daily affairs. Thereafter, he prayed for the peace and unity of the country, as well as the repose and eternal rest for the fallen heroes.
Present at the service were, the Representative of the Commander TRADOC NA, Brig Gen CA Ataki, Brig Gen A Israel, Brig Gen ET Essien, Brig Gen WM Dangana, senior officers, officers and soldiers of MMC. Families and corps members were also in attendance.
The Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) observed the Jumma'at Service to commemorate Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2022 at Minna Military Cantonment (MMC) Central Mosque on Friday, 1 July 2022. The service was attended by officers, soldiers and their families.
In his sermons, the Chief Imam, Col I Sadiq implored the personnel to pray for the peace and security of the country, as well as victory over enemies of the land. He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and quick recovery of the injured.
Present at the event were the Chief of Training, Maj Gen JAL Jimoh who represented the Commander TRADOC NA. Also present were the Chief of Research Development Test and Evaluation, Maj Gen S Ibrahim, Brig Gen AG Fagge and Col RU Mairiga amongst others.
Diligence, Commitment, and discipline have been described as some of the virtues of successful man, the Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji made this known during the Sendoff ceremony of the Chief of Doctrine and Combat Development, Maj Gen JG Mohammed at the TRADOC Officers' Mess on Wednesday 29 Jun 22. Speaking further, the Commander commended the senior officer for his innovations, ideas and for entrenching Mess ethics and regimentation in TRADOC Officers’ Mess and the Department of Doctrine and Combat Development. Comments from other senior officers, who worked closely with May Gen JG Mohammed appreciated his exemplary leadership, worthy characters and efforts at reactivating Mess activities. He coordinated various TRADOC programmes in line with its core functions.
In the same vein, Gen Olabanji commended the efforts of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who served in TRADOC NA during their one year primary assignments in TRADOC NA. He appreciated them for initiating projects which positively impacted on the wellbeing and welfare of the barracks community. Worthy of mention were the various empowerment program and social engagements they executed. He urged them to remain good ambassadors of the Nigerian Army and role models to the younger generation. Experts have advised personnel of the Nigerian Army on the need to indulge in regular exercise, medical checkup and good diet in order to improve their work effectiveness. This was the submission of Dr EhizOdigie-Okpataku, a Behavioural Change & Public Health Communication Consultant and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. She made this assertion while speaking at the TRADOC Auditorium during the In-House Study period on "Critical Thinking and Emotional Intelligence" on Monday 23 May 22. She described stress as simply pressure which could be managed. During her presentation on “Mindfulness Beyond Stress Management”, she explained that poor stress management could lead to multiple medical conditions if not properly managed.In another presentation on “Emotional Intelligence and Leadership”, Dr EhisOdigie stressed on the need to employ emotional intelligence and critical thinking in every day life.The event featured series of audience centered interactive session and presentation of Souvenirs.

The Flag Officer Commanding, Naval Doctrine Command (NAVDOC) Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral AN Ayafa lauded the Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji for his exceptional leadership and administrative dexterity shown in repositioning TRADOC NA to meet the demands of the Nigerian Army.Speaking during his visit to TRADOC NA on Thursday 19 May 2022, Rear Admiral NasiruAyafa stressed that the NAVDOC was established in 2021 to enhance operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Navy through doctrinal development and quality assessment.
He added that, NAVDOC is responsible for development of doctrines, policies, conducting examinations for officers and ratings, assessment of the Nigerian Navy combat readiness, carrying out research & development, publications of books of reference and manuals for the Nigerian Navy.Rear Admiral AN Ayafa pointed out that one of the factors that necessitated the visit was to tap from the wealth of experience of TRADOC NA.
Earlier on, the Director Joint Combat Development TRADOC NA, Brig Gen VOA Itamade an expository presentation on "the History, Organization and Structure of TRADOC NA" while also highlighting TRADOC’s achievements and future projections. The Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji thanked the Flag Officer Commanding,NAVDOC, Rear Admiral AN Ayafa and members of his team for deeming it fit to visit the Command.

The personnel of Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) were urged to apply proper caution and care when accessing the internet in order not to be victims of cyber attack. Speaking during the two days Seminar organized by the 12 Military intelligence Regiment on 25 and 29 April 22, the Chief of Training TRADOC NA, Maj Gen JAL Jimoh explained that one of the reasons for the lecture was to acquaint personnel with the evolving trends in order to avoid disclosure of classified documents and personal information.He added that personnel must be abreast with the latest technology and techniques used by the internet fraudsters and cyber attackers as Nigerian Army has zero tolerance to unauthorized disclosure of information.
Speaking earlier, Maj MG Ajigbolamu spoke on "Documents Security as a Tool for Efficient Service Delivery in Nigerian Army". He explained that the Army is a structured organization which prioritized the confidentiality of information and defaulters of such are sanctioned.
Present at the events were experts in Cyber Security, Documents Security and Computer technology, Dr Taliha Folorunsho, Dr Abubakar Sadiq and Engr Jibril. The Nigerian Army (NA) has been commended in her efforts at developingindigenous technology in combating various security challenges in the country. Dr TalihaFolorunsho, a lecturer of Mechatronics Engineering at the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, Niger State made this known during his presentation on "The impact of Technology on Russia- Ukraine War: An Appraisal of Modern War Platform". This was made during the Research and Development Study Period held between 21-22 April 2022 at the Training and Doctrine Command
Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) Auditorium.The presenter expressed optimism that if proper structures such as theDefence Industry Corporation were put in place, the country wouldexport its technologies to other countries in the near future.
The Director Research and Development TRADOC NA, Brig Gen OA Fadairo also spoke on the “Effects of Russia-Ukraine War on the African Continent". He further explained the economic impact of the war on imports and National investment of the warring nations. In another Lecture titled "Bandits Activities in North Central Nigeria: Niger State in Perspective", the presenter Col IM Ismaila, spoke extensively on the efforts of the Nigerian Army at combating the activities of banditry in Niger State. He urged the public to be more open in information sharing as this would enhance military operations.
In continuation with the Study Period, Capt DO Ighodaro presented a paper titled" Nigerian Army Social Media Policy: The Gain for Military Professionalism". In his presentation, he explained that Social Media has become a major part of our daily lives and has helped organizations and individuals in information sharing and real time connection. He stressed that efforts must be made to ensure thatSocial Media is not abused by personnel. He further stressed the need to abide by the Social Media Policy put it in place by ASA especially at this period of insecurities.

The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji has assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Niger State of the Command continuous support.Maj Gen Olabanji made this known during a courtesy visitto him by the newly appointed NYSC State Coordinator Niger State, Mr MH Taura on Firday, 22 April 2022 at the Headquarters TRADOC NA.
According to Maj Gen Olabanji, the Command is committed to building and modelling of the Corps members in character and service to the nation.He added that NYSC is one of the pillars put in place for the unity of the country, therefore Corps members serving with the NA must represent the good image of the Army by distinguishing themselves in discipline and moral behavior after their service.
Earlier in his remarks, the NYSC Niger State Coordinator,Mr MH Taura expressed his gratitude to the NA in providing security for Corps members and Management staff at various States and Niger State in particular, especially at the orientation camps.He implored the Command to continue to cooperate and support the NYSC, Niger State.

The Commander, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji implored participants of the Doctrine and Manual Wargaming Seminar to participate actively during the seminar to update their knowledge on the NA Doctrine and Wargaming. While declaring the sensitization seminar open at the TRADOC NA Auditorium on Tuesday, 19 April 2022, Maj Gen SO Olabanji who was ably represented by the Chief of Doctrine and Combat Development (CDCD), Maj Gen JG Mohammed stressed on the need for the NA to aim at exploring avenue that will make the personnel conversant with the Doctrine as well as the Wargaming that can be adopted to effectively fine tune combat plans to deal with the menace of insurgency.
The Seminar was organized by the Department of Doctrine and Combat Development from 19-20 April 2022. It featured presentation on NA Doctrine as well as Overview of Training Doctrine Command Nigerian Army. The lecture was delivered by Brig Gen VOA Ita. The other presentation was on Manual Wargaming which was delivered by Brig Gen OA Dada (rtd). He explained the importance of Manual Wargaming in military operations and reiterated the need for every Military Stakeholders at different levels to gain this knowledge and utilize the tools effectively.

The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji assured troops at Minna Military Cantonment that the NA would continue to improve facilities in the Barracks to make life more convenient for troops and their families. Maj Gen Olabanji made this known while delivering the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen F Yahaya's Easter Goodwill Message at St Luke Protestant Church, Minna Military Cantonment on Sunday, 17 April 2022.
According to Gen Olabanji, the COAS places high premium on the welfare of troops as one of the cardinal principles of his administration.He stressed that the NA is making huge investments towards the provision of good shelter, potable water, quality education and stable electricity in the Barracks. Gen Olabanji added that the NA will not relent until all barracks are returned to their desired shape.
Additionally, Maj Gen SO Olabanji urged the barracks community to prioritize the maintenance of facilities and cleanliness of their environment to enable everyone live healthy and a disease-free live.
Earlier in his sermon, the Deputy Director Chaplain Service (Protestant), Lt Col BA Adegoke entitled "Life Changing Hope", encouraged Christian faithfuls to be more devoted and always seek the face of God in all their dealings.
High point of the Easter Service was the distribution of relief materials to widows and the needy.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya ably represented by the Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) Maj Gen SO Olabanji implored the graduating Cadets of Marshall Inspectors Basic Course 2021/2022 to maintain high level of discipline and professional conduct in the discharge of their duties.The representative of COAS made this assertion at the Nigerian Army Training Center (NATRAC) on Friday 8 April 2022 during the Passing-out-Parade Ceremony of 550 Marshall Inspectors.
According to the representative of COAS, "following the level of training you have received at NATRAC needed for your capacity building, you must live above board while discharging your responsibilities".
Earlier in his welcome address, the Camp Commandant, Deputy Corps Marshall F Theman expressed satisfaction and appreciate the COAS in providing the needed training facility put in place for the training of the Marshall Inspectors.
Dignitaries at the occasion included Commander NATRAC, Maj Gen O Soyele, representative of Commander Corps of Artillery (CCA), Brig Gen AT Adedoja, representative of Corps Marshall, Deputy Corps Marshall S Zaki, among others.
The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji accompanied by other senior officers went on a working visit to the TRADOC NA Mechanical Transport Yard. The purpose of the visit was to ascertain the state of the yard and vehicles. The team was briefed by the Mechanical Transport Officer, Maj Sani. The visit was hitch free.
The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji commissioned the newly completed official residence of TRADOC Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) on Thursday, 24 March 2022 at Minna Military Cantonment.
Speaking during the occasion, Maj Gen Olabanji re-affirmed the commitment of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya to continue to improve on the welfare of the personnel.He further appreciated the COAS for addressing some of the pressing needs of the Nigerian Army.The Commander implore the RSM to give adequate attention to the maintenance of the accommodation.
In appreciation of the gesture, the RSM re-affirmed his faith in the NA and promised to give his utmost best in the service ofhisfatherland; Nigeria. He further stated that knowing he has a very comfortable home and his family are properly quartered, he has no reason to perform below expectation. He also thanked the COAS for the very beautiful accommodation.
After the commissioning, the Commander TRADOC NA and other senior officers took a tour of the accommodation.
The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji paid a working visit to the Regional Manager Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Mallam Mammudu Adamu. Speaking during the visit, the Regional Manager said he feels honoured by the visit of the Commander and his entourage. He applauded the NA and stated that in spite of all odds, the NA still fulfills her obligation to the company.

The Commander 013 Nigerian Airforce Station Minna, Air Commodore IF Bassey paid a courtesy visit to the Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji.The visit was premised on the need to foster cooperation and synergy with the NA in the Joint environment especially at this period of complex security challenges. The Commander TRADOC NA thanked him for his visit and assured him of NA’s mutual support in Niger State.
In the same vein, the Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Aliyu Bature and his entourage visited the Commander TRADOC NA.; The Commandant expressed his gratitude to the NA for the various support and prayed for more sustained support from the command.
In his response, the Commander TRADOC NA condoled with the Commandant over the death of his personnel that were involved in a bomb blast incident at Shiroro recently.The Commander further advised the visiting Commandant to encourage his men to be vigilant and be guided by the professional ethics of the Corps, especially during the electioneering period.

The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Ilorin, Alh (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari at his Palace. Speaking during the visit, Maj Gen SO Olabanji conveyed the goodwill of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya to the Emir. He noted with delight the infrastructural development in the state which he attributed to the peaceful co-existence among the people which is made possible through the sterling leadership of the Emir. The Commander informed the Emir that he was in Ilorin with his team for the conduct of the Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination being hosted by 22 Armoured Bde.
Responding, the Emir expressed his appreciation to the Commander for the visit, and noted with appreciation the contributions of the NA to the maintenance of peace and security in Kwara State and the nation at large. He wished the Commander and his team success in the conduct of the examination.

The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), who is also the Examination President Maj Gen SO Olabanji, ably represented by Director Lesson Learnt, Brig Gen AG Fagge arrived the location for the Examination and paid a working visit to Theatre Commander Maj Gen CG Musa. The senior officer was at the location to conduct In-theatre Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination 2022. The representative of the Examination President was briefed on the level of preparation by the formation towards the conduct of the Examination schedule for 14-18 February 2022. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen GU Chibuisi visited the Examination President at the ongoing Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination (LCPPE) 2022. During the visit, the GOC interacted with the Examination President and assured him of the safety of his team as well as the examination candidates throughout the period of the examination within his area of responsibility. The visiting GOC was presented with a plaque by the Examination President. The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army(TRADOC NA), who is also the Examination President, Maj Gen SO Olabanji arrived Headquarters 22 Armoured Bde on 7 Feb 22 for a courtesy visit. On his arrival, he was received by the Commander 22 Armoured Bde Brig Gen AE Abubakar in his office.

Some members of staff and students of NUT End Well Science School, Minna, paid a visit to Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) on 3 February2022.They comprised 2 members of staff and 24 Students. The visit was part of activities for the career week of the school, aimed at acquainting the selected students who have indicated interest in pursuing the military career with an experiential knowledge of the setup and workings of a military establishment.
The NUT Team was received at the TRADOC Conference Room by the Deputy Chioef of Staff Administration (DCOS G1), Col PAJ Ebuk on behalf of the Commander TRADOC NA. He gave the visiting team a synopsis of the roles of TRADOC NA while also highlighting the roles and importance of the military career as well as describing the rank structure of the NA to the students. The elated students asked questions and thereafter were given a guided tour to the Administration Cell Office. Finally, the Team had the privilege of a group photograph with the Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji.
In line with the Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC NA) Forecast of Events, the Mechanical Transport (MT) Department conducted Drivers Refresher Course from 2 - 4 February 2022. The Course was aimed at refreshing the driving skills of TRADOC drivers as well as refresh participants on vehicle maintenance procedure, highway code and road traffic signs. The course was conducted at the joint MT Yard of TRADOC and 31 Arty Bde. The training was hitch free.
The Executive Committee of Government Day Secondary School Minna Military Cantonmentpaid a courtesy visit to Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji 1 February2022. The 4-man team Committee led by Prof Mathew Adamu, met the Commander at his office to welcome him to TRADOC NA and discussed matters that affect the efficient running of the school.
In his response, the Commander TRADOC NA appreciated the Team for their visit and interest in giving the students the best education possible. He further pledged to support the effort of the Committee of the School in providing quality education to the students. He then observed that substantial number of the students are children of TRADOC personnel.

The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji, charged cadets of Short Service Course 47 (Army) tostay physically and mentally fit for the rigorous task of defending the territorial integrity of the nation and subduing all threats to national security. He emphasized thattheir preoccupation should be passing out of the Nigerian Defence Academy and getting commissioned as officers in the NA.
Maj Gen Olabanji gave the charge to the cadets at the Nigerian Army Table Hill, Kachia, during the Battle Inoculation and Firepower Demonstration phase of Exercise Camp Highland.The Battle Inoculation phase is the last aspect of the final field training exercise for the cadets in the Academy.The Commander TRADOC NA, who was the Special Guest of Honour(SGoH) at the event, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the cadets during the exercise. He noted that the exercise which was designed to imbue confidence in them was also aimed at exposing the cadets to real battle conditions and what they may face in real life battle situations.
Maj Gen Olabanji underscored the importance of physical fitness and positive attitude to work. He also used the occasion to urge the cadets to remain focused and disciplined in the discharge of all assigned tasks upon their graduation from the Academy. Also, he thanked the Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy, Maj Gen IM Yusuf, for providing realistic training to the cadets.
The SGOH thereafter used the occasion to thank the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen F Yahaya, for providing quality leadership to theNA. The Battle Inoculation was concluded with a novelty shooting by the Special Guest of Honour, dignitaries from Army Headquarters and invited guests from sister services. Officers and soldiers of the Minna Military Cantonment were urged to always conduct themselves in a way that would reflect the good image of the Nigerian Army. This was declared by the representative of the Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji during the Joint West African Social Activities (WASA) 2021 at the Minna Military Cantonment.
The WASA 2021 was jointly conducted by HQ TRADOC NA, HQ 31 Arty Bde, 31 Arty Bde Gar and 313 Arty Regt. The representative of the TRADOC Commander, Maj Gen JG Mohammed expressed delight for the successful completion of all Training activities in line with the NA Forecast of Events for 2021. He reiterated that WASA was a significant tradition that creates an avenue for officers, soldiers, families and friends of the NA to interact in a relaxed environment while enjoying displays of the rich cultural diversity of the country.
Speaking further, the Commander appreciated the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya for his leadership and unwavering commitment in supporting all the activities of the formations and units in Minna Military Cantonment.

The Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) on Wednesday 22 November 2021 bid farewell to one of its principal officers, Maj Gen Aminu Bande who retired recently from the NA after illustrious years in Service. Speaking at the send-off ceremony organized in honour of senior officer, the Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji, commended Maj Gen Bande for performing his duty diligently and effectively while in Service. He stated that Gen Bande served the nation meritoriously until his retirement. In his words ‘I commend you for all your hard work, dedication to service and sincere commitment to the service of the country’. Also, other personnel of the Command who retired during the period were commended for good performance while in Service.
Responding, Maj Gen Bande (rtd) thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for the opportunity to serve the nation. He also appreciated the Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji for the honour done to him.

In another development, the Commander TRADOC NA advised the recipients of the maiden TRADOC NA Merit Award to always aim higher by improving not only in their intellectual prowess but also imbibe the core values of the NA. The Commander spoke at the Merit Award ceremony organized to honour those who distinguished themselves during the NA Promotion Examinations 2021. Speaking further, Gen Olabanji noted that the award was in line with the COAS command philosophy.
The Special Guest of Honour at the event, Corps Commander Artillery, Maj Gen TA Gagariga enjoined the officers to key into the principles of success by improving whatever they were doing.
"Patience, perseverance and prayers are vital qualities for the attainment of success and promotion in one’s chosen career".
The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji made this assertion while decorating Col Adegbe with his new badge of rank of Brigadier General at a ceremony held at the TRADOC Auditorium on Wednesday 22 December2021.
Maj Gen SO Olabanji summarized the attributes of Brig Gen Adegbe as one with high standard of patience, discipline, loyalty and dedication to duty. He noted that his promotion came when the NA needed more of his service. The Commander therefore charged Brig Gen Adegbe to endeavour to give his best in any capacity in his next tour of duty. The Commander appealed to those that did not benefit from the promotion exercise not to loose hope, assuring them that at God’s appointed time, they will have theirs.
Responding, Brig Gen Adegbe appreciated the Chief of Army Staff for considering him for the promotion and promised that he will do everything possible to justify the trust reposed in him.

The Nigerian Army (NA) received kudos for its efforts towards the tackling of insecurity challenges facing the state. The commendation came from the Executive Governor of Niger State, Alhaji (Dr) Sani Bello ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Ketso during the courtesy visit to the Governor by the Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji on Thursday 18 November 2021.
The Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ketso observed the sacrifices and the professional expertise been displayed in combating insecurity in the state which resulted in the reduction of threats from the bandits. He urged troops to continue with their doggedness and assured them of the state support.
Speaking further, the Deputy Governor expressed his satisfaction with the level of cooperation among the security agencies in the state at making sure that the peace and tranquility was maintained. He emphasized the need for trust, information sharing and cross fertilization of ideas in the state to curb the menace of the criminals.
Speaking further, Gen Olabanji stated that the NA will continue to partner with the State to foster unity and peaceful coexistence that will bring lasting solutions to the security challenges in the state. He thanked the Governor for honouring him with his presence, adding that it was NA task to secure lives and property of the citizens and will continue to do so.
In a related development, Commander TRADOC NA paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Umaru Faruq Bahago, the Emir of Minna. The Emir thanked and congratulated the Commander TRADOC NA for finding time to visit him. He noted with satisfaction the efforts of the NA towards combating the acts of terrorism in the country.
According to the Emir, terrorism has not cut across the state because the leaders came together with one voice to deal with the menace. He stressed that the efforts of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen F Yahaya towards resolving security challenges in the state is highly appreciated. He prayed for God's guidance and peace in the state and the country in general.
General Olabanji in his remarks attributed the success so far recorded by the NA in the State as a collective effort. The former Head of State and Commander-in-Chief, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babagida has advised the Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji to sustained ongoing efforts put in place by the NA to achieve the purpose of establishing TRADOC NA for the country.
While commending the Commander for most of the activities on ground to ensure the repositioning of the TRADOC NA, he enjoined the Nigerian Armed Forces to continue to forge ahead as one body in order to combat the current security challenges in the country.
Speaking further, Gen IBB noted with satisfaction and praised the NA for its tremendous efforts in protecting lives and property in the country. He then assured the Commander that he is available to give any advice to TRADOC NA whenever such advice is sort for.
In addition, Gen IBB expresses his Goodwill message for the forthcoming NA Doctrinal Development Conference. He stressed that the importance of the conference will avail the NA to come up with plans that will move the nation forward. Earlier in his remarks, the Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji stated that he was at the IBB's house as his first point of call after his appointment to interact with him and tap from Gen IBB's wealth of experience and knowledge. Gen Olabanji explained further that a deliberate effort was being put in place by the COAS, Lt Gen F Yahaya at repositioning the command which would ensure that the TRADOC NA fulfillsthe mission and vision of the founding fathers.
While thanking the former military president Gen IBB for the warm reception given to him and his entourage, he prayed for good health and long life for Gen IBB to continue to play formidable roles in affairs of the country.

He therefore implored him to continue with the activities being put in place to make TRADOC NA a better place and impact positively on the NA and the country at large. The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji advised participants of Doctrine and Combat Development Manual War Gaming for Junior Commanders 2021 to participate actively in this year's Manual War Gaming exercise for Junior Commanders. He made this assertion during the flag-off ceremony of the Manual War Gaming which held from 1-4 November 2021 at the Headquarters TRADOC NA.
Maj Gen SO Olabanji ably represented by the Chief of Doctrine and Combat Development, Maj Gen GS Abdullahi stated that the exercise draws inspiration from the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, which is to have "A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions Within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria".
He noted that TRADOC NA identified the need for professional capacity building and enhancement through War Gaming in order to combat various insecurity challenges in the country.Also, the Deputy Director of Examination, Col MM Abu in his presentation expatiated on the concept of War Gaming and how it has been in used since the ancient time to strategically plan wars. He said War Gaming is a replicate of the military strategy which is economical to carryout.
The Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Army, Honorable Abdulrazak Namdas has expressed support to the Nigerian Army (NA) and the various operations it is conducting across the country. He stated this when he led other members of the Committee on Army on a visit to the Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Minna, on Monday 1 November 2021. The visit was part of the Committee’s oversight function on the NA. He explained that the oversight activities of the Committee avail them the opportunity to appraise ongoing operations and their challenges with a view to prioritizing NA’s requirements in the budget. Speaking further, the Chairman commended TRADOC NA and her efforts towards achieving training that will enhance the capacity building of personnel of the NA.
The Chairman again stated that the unpredictable nature of conflicts in the country calls for effective management of training which TRADOC NA is committed to. He similarly enumerated possible areas of collaboration to include the need to have training centers in all the geopolitical zones of the country which according to him was long overdue.Responding, the Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji thanked the visiting committee for finding time to visit TRADOC NA. He stated that the visit of the House of Representatives Committee on Army to TRADOC NA was the first of its kind in recent times. The Commander explained that TRADOC has an enormous responsibility of overseeing all the training institutions and schools in the NA, in addition to other responsibilities such as the conduct of promotion examinations, workshops, conferences and training exercises.
The Commander TRADOC NA further pointed out that one of the ongoing Exercises "EX GAFILI GADOKI 2021" was aimed at strategizing for any unforeseen challenges towards the general election of 2023. This will also ensure protection of citizens, properties and critical national assets. He also enumerated the efforts put in place at Divisional Training Schools level to cater for training of the recruits from Depot NA. According to the Commander, this idea is yielding positive results. He further requested the Committee to ensure that NA Aviation becomes a reality. Consequently, more assistance from the Committee would be required, he stated.

The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji decorated Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Abdullahi Baba with his new rank of Army Warrant Officer (AWO)on Friday 29 October 21. During the decorartion ceremony, the Commander TRADOC NA urged the newly promoted AWO Abdullahi Baba to remain focused, dedicated, loyal and committed to the service of the nation. He commended AWO Abdullahi Baba, and urged him to be more committed stating that the promotion to higher rank was a call to higher responsibilities. The Commander reiterated that promotion goes beyond good luck and hardworking alone but also involves good character.According to the Commander, "your character is a key element when considering personnel for a promotion". Stressing further, " you may not be perfect but don't be known for a bad character". Maj Gen Olabanji enjoined personnel to be responsible towards their family by laying a good foundation for them so that they can impact positively on the society.He stressed that bad behavior by the parents should be shunned because they serve as a bad model for the family. He urged personnel to keep in mind that someday they will retire and should start making plans for post service life. Also speaking during the ceremony, Brig Gen OA Fadairo and Maj I Galadima praised AWO Abdullahi Baba for his dedication and commitment to duty. They urged him to serve as a good example to his subordinates. The Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) engaged Kaboni System on ways to improve the storage of various activities on the automated system seamlessly. The experts in Automated Centralized Training Doctrine System were on hand to educate officers of TRADOC NA on Friday 29 October 2021.
In his welcome remark, the Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji expressed his delight on the innovation as it is a timely and needed system that will improved the working conditions of personnel of the Command.Earlier on, the leader of the team Mr Femi Oni explained that the system will assist the NA in areas of deployment, force management, and storage of information.
Mr Femiexplained further on the benefits of the system. He stated that the system has a cloud backup software that is secured and couldhelp in areas of scheduling and management of Army Orders, training, operations, force development, professional development and content management.The expert also explained that the system will keep records of personnel which will be accessible by individuals and other benefits.Highlight of the event was the presentation of Souvenirs to the Guest Speaker.
In another development, the Director of Training TRADOC NA, Brig Gen OM Bello made a presentation on Training Modules for Leadership Package for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCO) and Non-commissioned Officers (NCO) in the NA.TheLeadership Package was observed to be detailed and contained necessary information for the training of the personnel.

He urged them to be good ambassadors and protect the good image of the NA by impacting positively on the society through their character and manner in which they relate with the public.
Maj Gen Olabanji added that it is high time the narratives of the NA changed by keying into President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement when he came on board and stated the kind of army the country needed which will be acceptable through their conduct. He further advised that their conduct and behavior in the society will be a starting point for the military to change the narratives and opinions of the public about the NA.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Niger State Chapter, Retired Warrant Officer Mahmuda Baba on behalf of other members of the Association appreciated the Commander for honouring their request to visit the Command. He assured of the Association's commitment towards peace and tranquility in the state through good relationship.
During the interactive session, Chief of Doctrine and Combat Development, Maj Gen GS Abdullahi, added that the Association should be more visible to the public, be more relevant to the society and interface with Army Headquarters and Defence Headquarters in any of their programs.

The Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association (NAOWA) Minna Military Cantonment Chapter, sought enhanced collaboration between the Association and the Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA). The Chairperson of NAOWA Minna Military Cantonment Chapter, Mrs Yemisi Elizabeth Olabanji made the call on 27 October 2021 when she led officials of the Association to pay a courtesy visit to the Commander, TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji in his office. Speaking at the occasion, Maj Gen Olabanji expressed delight with the visit of the NAOWA and assured the Association of his continued support towards the realization of their projects within the Cantonment.He added that one of the plans already on ground was to make sure that the Cantonment has a standard education system especially the primary school education. He said all hands are on deck to ensure that the Cantonment does not lack the basic amenities needed for it's running which includes steady electricity supply, water and conducive accommodation facilities. Maj Gen Olabanji further disclosed that plans are ongoing for the establishment of NAOWA Nursery and Primary School in the Cantonment, as this would provide the needed standard education system for the children and wards of personnel. Earlier, the Chairperson NAOWA Mrs Yemisi Elizabeth Olabanji appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya and the National President NAOWA Mrs Salamatu Yahaya for their unflinching support to the Association. She commended the leadership of TRADOC NA for creating a conducive atmosphere for personnel by improving their living and working conditions. She congratulated the Commander on his appointment and wished him a successful tenure of duty. The Commander, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji has urged officers that participated in the just concluded Captain-Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE) to set a realistic goals in pursuance of their career.
He made this known at the end of the CMPPE 2021 held from 11-15 October 2021 in Bauchi. Speaking further, "You must remain committed, focused and patriotic" he said.
He reminded them of the importance of the Examination as a prerequisite for Junior Staff Course at Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji.
Also, he informed the officers of the commitment of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya, to troop welfare and motivation.According to the Commander, the COAS's Philosophy is key for a successful career of NA officers.
While congratulating those that passed the Examination, he enjoined those who failed to re-double their effort to pass subsequent examinations.
However, the Examination President had a handshake with the officers that distinguished themselves as first, second and third positions respectfully.
Present at the event were the General Officer Commanding, 3 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen IS Ali, representative of the Commander, Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Brig Gen ST Audu among others. Highpoint of the event was the announcement of results of the CMPPE 2021.
The Emir of Bauchi, Alh (Dr) Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu expressed happiness with the commitment of the Nigerian Army (NA) to the maintenance of peace and security across the nation. The Emir made this known while receiving the Commander,Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji, who was in his palace to pay him courtesy visit. He appreciated the honour of visiting him and the respect showed to the traditional institution.
According to the Emir, "the peace and tranquility being witnessed was as a result of the commitment of the NA in securing the lives and property of the citizens". The Emir prayed for the continued stability and peace of the country.
Earlier on, the Commander, TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji explained that he was in the palace to inform the Emir of his presence in Bauchi to conduct the Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE) 2021. He reminded them that the success of the Examination will depend on their individual and group integrity.
Speaking further, he informed them that their assessment would enable the NA to determine the level of professionalism attained by the officers in line with the COAS Vision which is "A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions Within a Joint Environment in Defiance of Nigeria”. In attendance were the Acting Chief of Training TRADOC NA, Brig Gen OA Dada, representative of the GOC 3 Division NA Brig Gen TE Gagariga, Col UA Lawal. After the address, the Examination Panel CMPPE 2021 retired to their various cells and continued with generating of requirements.
In another development, some newly promoted soldiers of the of the HQ TRADOC NA who are part of the CMPPE Team were decorated with their new ranks. The soldiers decorated includes 2 Staff Sergeants to Warrant Officers, 3 Corporals to Sergeants, and 7 Privates to Lance Corporal respectfully.
Speaking during the decoration ceremony, the Deputy Director Exams Col MM Abu congratulated the promoted soldiers and urged them to do what is right at all times. He advised them to learn to sacrifice for their family by providing for their needs in what God has blessed them within the same vein, the Acting Director Exams TRADOC NA Col O Adegbe implored the promoted soldiers to remain committed, loyal and faithful in discharging their duties.
The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji on 30 September2021 decorated 3 officers who were promoted to the rank of Major at the HQ TRADOC NA Conference Room. The promoted officers were Capt EM Wenebai, Capt A Sani and Capt EJ Odo.
Speaking during the decoration ceremony, the Commander TRADOC NA congratulated the newly promoted officers stating that their promotion to the new rank of Major was a call to higher responsibilities and commitments. Gen Olabanji expressed his satisfaction on the conduct and output of the promoted officers while urging them to keep the flag flying.He further encouraged the promoted officers to remain focused while putting in their best at all times, embrace new challenges and remain loyal to constituted authority in the discharge of their duties.
Finally, the Commander TRADOC NA charged the newly promoted officers to be worthy ambassadors of the NA, their families and the nation at large. While offering words of encouragement and advice, Col PAJ Ebuk and Lt Col M Buhari both encouraged the officers to continually uphold the tenets of the NA and also maintain a high level of discipline, dedication and exemplary leadership.

The Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) held a Curriculum Review Conference for selected NA Training Schools and Institutions. The Special Guest of Honour at the occasion, Maj Gen SO Olabanji reiterated the need to improve NA Training Schools curriculum to deal with current realities and challenges of the time. He added that the curriculum must address the core issues towards human development in order to be in tandem with the reality of the current security challenges facing the country.The call was made during the Curriculum Review Conference which was held at the HQ TRADOC NA auditorium from 26-30 September2021.
The theme of the Conference was“Curriculum Development for the Enhancement of Realistic Training in the NA”. It was geared towards the COAS’ vision which is “A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria”. During the Conference, papers were presented by seasoned resource persons which endedwith an intellectual discourse. The first paper titled “Curriculum Development and Its Impact on Learning: An Appraisal” was delivered by Prof Musa Aibinu from the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna.
He addressed the need for the curricula that would lead to new ways of development and innovations that would be changing the way we defended our nation and lives in our community.Speaking further, he emphasized that curricula must include the necessary details such as goals, method, materials and assessment. Prof Aibinu further reiterated the need for adequate planning, articulation, implementation, evaluation and reporting as vital ingredients in a curriculum.
The second paper was presented by Brig Gen SS Ibrahim, the Registrar Nigerian Army University Biu titled “The process ofDeveloping and Improving Course Content for Military Training”. According to him, course content must be anchored on philosophy, aims and objectives of the course, admission requirements, learning outcomes, resource requirements for teaching and learning. He stressed on the roles of instructors, commanders and other factors that will enhance the quality of the course. In his submission, training programme should have clear educational philosophy, qualified instructors, a standardized evaluation instrument, adequate infrastructure as well as regular review of curriculum and the training of curriculum managers.
Dr Aminu Wushishi from the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai delivered the third paper at the Conference. The paper focused on “A critical Analysis of the Effects of Curriculum Development and Its Uses in Influencing Beneficial Results”.The paper enumerated essential considerations for curriculum development procedures which included analysis, planning content/method, implementation and evaluation.
He stressed on the need for curriculum design, its process and the challenges in implementing the curriculum. Also, detailed factors that could influence beneficial results in implementing curriculum and retaining the implementation were adequately given priority in the paper.
Overview of Curriculum Development Procedures for Selected Nigerian Army Training Schools was delivered by Dr Abubakar Shehu of the College of Education, Minna, as the fourth paper. He stressed the importance of curriculum development that will proffer a way out of the present security challenges facing the nation with all the seriousness it deserve.
The week-long Conference drew participants which included Commandants and deputy commandants of selected NA Training Schools and Institutions, representatives from AHQ DAT and AHQ DASE as well as academia from Universities and College of Education among other invited guests.The Conference provided an opportunity for meaningful interaction among various stakeholders of NA Training Schools and Institutions.
Also, there were presentations by selected NA Training Schools and Institutions. The Conference was rounded off with a cocktail party at the TRADOC NA Officers’ Mess.
In compliance with the Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) forecast of events, the Command commenced the Library Day and Study Period with the theme ‘Enhancing Educational Growth in the Nigerian Army through the Use of Libraries’. The Study Period held from 15-17 September 2021.
In his opening remarks, the Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji stressed the importance of Libraries to the educational development of personnel as it has supported both academic and military training.The Chief of Training TRADOC NA, Maj Gen A Bande who represented the Commander urged the participants to contribute meaningfully in order to provide solutions that would tackle the gaps identified by the lack of patronage to Libraries.
During the Study Period, Dr Obaje Alfred Michael from Federal University of Technology Minna represented by Dr Sadiat Ayetoro Salawu delivered a paper titled "The Role of Libraries in the Educational Development of Nigerian Army Personnel". He her paper, she advised all to imbibe the habit of using the Library to enhance their learning capabilities. According to the Guest lecturer, the relevance of Libraries in the growth of educational development cannot be quantified.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya declared open the three days Research and Development Conference at Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) Auditorium, Minna on Wednessday 8 September 2021.The theme of the Research and Development Conference was "Enhancing Nigerian Army’s Joint Operational Effectiveness through Research and Development". This is in line with the NA Training Directives 2021 scheduled from 8-10 September 2021.
Speaking during the opening ceremony the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen F Yahaya represented by TRADOC NA Maj Gen SO Olabanji expressed delight in the way the conference is articulating strategies that will assist the Nigerian Army in its Research and Development efforts especially in face the contemporary security situation.The COAS added that the NA will continue to collaborate with renowned research-based institutions in the country towards realizing the objective of producing the needed military hardware.
The resource person Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu from Federal University of Technology, Minna represented by DrTaliha Abiodun Folorunso presented a paper on the "Effective Research and Development as a Way of Enhancing Joint Operation in the Nigerian Army".DrTaliha Folorunso solicited for academics, military and industrial synergy. He explained that through leveraged collaborations, joint development collaboration and technological handshake; societal transformation, improved technology needs of the country, economic transformation and increased creativity will be achieved.
In attendance were Commander TRADOC NA Maj Gen SO Olabanji, Departmental Chiefs, Commandants from NA Schools, representatives and observers from Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, Army Headquarters Departments, Head of Service Niger State, Heads of Paramilitary and Security Agencies.
A 3-man team from First City Monument Bank Minna led by Mrs Oladoyin Adebayo gave a sensitization lecture to personnel of Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) on Friday, 3 September 2021. The Sensitization lecture took place at TRADOC Auditorium to sensitize personnel of the Command on series of products of the bank for their patronage. In the course of the lecture, Mrs Bolaji Idowu elaborated on different products the bank offers their customers.Speaking further, she reiterated the commitment of the bank to meet the demands of their customers. She therefore enjoins the personnel to take advantage of this opportunity by choosing any of the products offered. In attendance were senior officers, officers and soldiers of the Command.
….Reiterates Commitment to Safety of lives and Property in the Barracks
The Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army(TRADOC NA) organised a 3 day Seminar on Security Awareness for the Barracks Community. The theme of the Seminar is "Security Awareness: A Prerequisite for Enhanced Barracks Security" which was aimed at educating and sensitizing the personnel, dependants’, National Youth Service Corps members in Minna Military Cantonment. The seminar focused on how to dealt with Contemporary Security Challenges in the community.
Speaking while declaring the seminar open, the Commander TRADOC NA Maj Gen SO Olabanji charged the participants to continue to proffer solutions towards solving the diverse nature of the contemporary security challenges facing the nation. In his words " this seminar is therefore timely as it is a necessary tool in ensuring that the burden of insecurity in our land with its attendant implications on lives and propertyis comprehensively tackled through robust training on security awareness amongst others”.
Gen Olabanji explained that the country was faced with threats to security, such as kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling, armed robbery, insurgency, tribal agitation amongst others in all the Geo-political zones.He added that the consequences of insecurity are encompassing as it knows no race, tribe or religion and must be approached diligently. Therefore, deliberate action must be taken towards securing the diverse nature of people who live in the barracks.
The seminar featured topics such as 'Emerging Technologies: A Tool for Combating Insecurity and Fostering National Unity, Information Communication and It's Application for Personnel and Barracks Security, Cyber Crime and Cyber Security, Security Awareness Training and It's Importance for Barracks Community, and Contemporary Security Challenges in NA Cantonments. The papers were presented by Maj Gen GS Abdullahi, Dr Faliha Abiodun Folorunso amongst others.
At the end of the Seminar, Commander TRADOC NA Maj Gen SO Olabanji gave the closing remarks where he stressed the need for all the Barracks Community to take into cognisance the need to be observant and report any strange occurrence or person to the appropriate authority. He urged all to be conscious of their environment and be their neighbour’s keeper. Additionally, he enjoins the parents to take very good care of their wards as they are leaders of tomorrow.

A three-man delegation from Ghana Army Training Command visited the Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command Nigeria Army (TRADOC NA) Minna on 11 Aug 2021.In his remark, the leader of the team, Commander Ghana Training Command (GTC) Brigadier General BB Owusuwere in TRADOC NA to seek for cooperation in the development of Ghana Training Command.
The Commander GTC expressed appreciation for the opportunity given to them to benefit from what Nigerian Army have achieved in terms of field training and in dealing with contemporary challenges especially the determination to counter the act of terrorism.The leader of the delegates expresses delight and recounted Nigerian Army’s rolein successfully bring peace to Liberia, Sierra-Leone and other troubled countries in West Africa.He further explained that both Armies of the 2 countries have attended courses in Nigeria and Ghana at Armed Forces Command and Staff College or at Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College.
The Commander GTC further commended the Nigerian Army for its infrastructural and technologicaldevelopment. General Owusu emphasized that this is the critical reason why Nigerian Army is chosen as a template to improve the Ghana Army training capability. Earlier, the Chief of Staff Training and Doctrine Command Brigadier General IM Abdullahi shared remarkable events in which the Nigeria Army and Ghana Army has participated together dating back to the precolonial era and joint operations such as the peace support operations in Liberia under the auspices of Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG).
A presentation was delivered by the Director Joint Combined Doctrine Brigadier General AIM Lapai on History, Organization and Roles of Training and Doctrine Command in Nigerian Army. Stressing that Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Nigerian Army (NA) was established as a think-tank and centre of excellence of the Nigerian Army since 1981.He added that TRADOC NA is also the alternate NA Headquarters and offers advices, ideas and probable solutions to training and operational challenges of the NA.
After the presentation, Ghanaian delegates made further clarifications, suggestions and observation that could also enhanced the presentation. Thereafter,the delegates were taken on a guided tour of Training and Doctrine Command complex.

The Commander Infantry Corps and Centre (ICC) Maj Gen VO Ezugwu informed the candidates of the Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination (SSQE) 2021 to prepare for the tasks ahead having been equipped with necessary knowledge to function well. The Commander made this known in his welcome remarks during the cocktail party held in honour of candidates which took place 5 August2021. He added that the task ahead is unpredictable but they have been equipped with all they needed to perform optimally.
The Examination President and Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) Maj Gen SO Olabanji in his remarks thanked the Commander Infantry Corps and Centre Maj Gen VO Ezugwu for all efforts put in place to have a successful outing in the SSCQE 2021. Maj Gen Olabanji made this assertion while addressing the candidates for the Examination scheduled to hold from Monday 2 to Friday 6 August 2021.
He reminded the candidates that a team of competent and dedicated members of Examination Panel has forwarded acceptable requirements and solutions for the Examination. He reiterated that their performance in the Examination is a key determinant for their progress in the Nigerian Army. Also, he emphasized to the candidates that there is nothing to fear as Members of Examination Panel and Directing Staff were men of integrity.
Speaking further, Maj Gen Olabanji informed the candidates that the Examination is aimed at assessing their capabilities to undertake higher responsibilities in the near future.According to the Examination President, he was pleased to inform them of the innovation put in place for the SSCQE 2021 which are Certificate of Excellence and Letter of Commendation to officers who emerged first, second and third in order of merit including cash gift. The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Maj Gen SO Olabanji on Monday 2 August 2021 declared open the feeding programmefor officers and soldiers in the command.Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Commander TRADOC ably represented by the Director of Combat Development Brig Gen OA Dada stressed that the feeding initiative is part of the effort by the Commander to corroborate the Chief of Army Staff welfare initiative. He thanked the Commander for bringing the initiative to reality as this is a replica of Army Headquarters.
Furthermore, he enjoined personnel to inculcate table manners and etiquette. He added that the initiative will go a long way to foster officer/soldier relationship and also reflect positively on performance in the Command. The soldiers had earlier gone through a five week intensive cadre course at the Command after completion of their six (6) months training at Depot NA, Zaria. Thirty (30) soldiers of Eighty (80) Regular Recruit Intake (RRI) posted to TRADOC NA went through course.
Addressing the Soldiers, the Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji ably represented by the Chief of Staff, Brig Gen IM Abdullahi advised the young soldiers to imbibe the core values of the NA as this will guide their conducts in Service to the Nation. He added that serving in TRADOC NA is a rare privilege which most soldiers do not have. He further stressed that the highest Service a man can render is to lay down his life for his country.
He congratulated them for choosing the military as a career and a noble one in which they have the privilege to serve their country. Others in attendance were Brig Gen AIM Lapai, Maj I Galadima, instructors, and soldiers.

He embarked on the visit while he was in Jaji for the conduct of Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examinations (SSCQE) as the Examinations President.The Commander Infantry Corps and Centre, Maj Gen VO Ezugwu was on hand to receive him.
During the brief interaction, Maj Gen Ezugwu was full of appreciation for the solid foundation that Maj Gen Olabanji left behind during his tenure as Commander Infantry Corps and Centre. Earlier on, the Chief of Staff Headquarters Infantry Corps and Centre Brig Gen NM Jega briefed on preparations made so far for the forthcoming SSCQE 2021.
In his response, Gen Olabanji congratulated the Commander Infantry Corps and Centre Maj Gen VO Ezugwu on his new appointment. He described the new Commander as an officer, able and ready to deliver the assigned tasks of the Command. According to Gen Olabanji, he was not in doubt that Gen Ezugwu would ensure the realization of the Chief of Staff (COAS) vision which is "A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions Within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria". Gen Olabanji was later taken round ongoing projects in the Headquarters.
Similarly, Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen SO Olabanji paid a courtesy visit to the Commandant Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), AVM EO Alade. Gen Olabanji recounted their relationship and thanked him for the excellent relationship. He further congratulated the Commandant for the successful passing out of students of Junior and Senior Courses. In his response, AVM Alade welcomed the Comd and members of his entourage. He reiterated the commitment of the institution to continue to produce well trained Staff Officers for the Armed Forces. Speaking further, AVM Alade said, he was pleased with the efforts of the Commander to make the Cantonment habitable during his tenure as the Commander Infantry Corps and Centre. He described Gen Olabanji as a pragmatic and results oriented officer who will not leave any stones unturned. According to AVM Alade, "I am not in doubt that Gen Olabanji will succeed in his new place of assignment”. Highlights of the visit was presentation of gifts and group photograph.
In continuation of his courtesy visit, Gen Olabanji was at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI) where he was received by the Commandant Maj Gen MG Ali.He was briefed on the state of equipment, weapons, infrastructure, administration, and threats to security in the area. Gen Ali who was detailed in his brief and solicited for assistance. In his response, Gen Olabanji assured the Commandant of TRADOC NA support when required. He applauded the Commandant and enjoins him not to relent in the face of challenges. At the Warrant Officer Academy (WOA),the Commandant Brig Gen OS Abai was pleased to receive the Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen Olabanji. In his appreciation for the visit, Gen Abai assured the Commander TRADOC that all efforts will be put in place to achieve the Training Directives set for WOA. In his remarks, Gen Olabanji advised the Commandant to do his best in achieving a realistic training in the Academy.

In continuation of familiarization and assessment visit to some important facilities within Minna Military Cantonment, Commander Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Nigerian Army, Maj Gen SO Olabanji visited 31 Bde Medical Centre, Range and Minna Cantonment land boundary on Friday 23 July2021. At 31 Bde Medical Centre, the Acting Commanding Officer Maj A Jokotoye briefed the Commander TRADOC on the state of dilapidated buildings and facilities in the Medical Centre. At the end of the visit to the Medical Centre, the Ag Commanding Officer TRADOC NA Admin Wing Maj l Galadima took the Commander to some areas of interest within the Cantonment. The visit was hitch free.
The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) Maj Gen SO Olabanji celebrated the Eid-El Kabir with the Muslim faithful of the Cantonment on 20 Jul 2021.Speaking during the Sallah homage paid to him by the Cantonment Imam, Dep Dir Islamic Affairs, Lt Col M Buhari and other officers and soldiers, Maj Gen Olabanji extended the warm greetings of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya.
He added that as part of this year’s celebration, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) will be celebrating the Eid-El Kabir with gallant troops in the North East. He urged everyone to keep praying for the country, the President, troops in different Theatres of operation, and widows of deceased troops. Speaking further, Gen Olabanji added that every necessary effort will be put in place to make sure that the Cantonment worship places are conducive.
Earlier on, Minna Military Cantonment Muslim faithful offered prayers and thanksgiving to Almighty Allah as they celebrate Eid-El Kabir. In his sermon, the Cantonment Imam Lt Col M Buhari enjoined Muslim faithful's to adhere to the teachings of the Prophets by emulating them in sacrifice, devotions and love for one another. He celebration was marked with the symbolic slaughtering of the ram as ordained in the Holy Quran. Muslim faithful's serving and retired officers, soldiers and Minna Cantonment friends attended the celebration.
The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) Maj Gen SO Olabanji held his maiden Conference with his officers on 16 July 2021. In his opening remark, the Commander emphasized the need for all to be security conscious following the recent happenings in the country, especially as it affects movement of personnel within and outside the state. He further explained that as part of measures that TRADOC will put in place, provision will be made for a comprehensive security apparatus to safeguard lives and property for personnel of the Command.
Thereafter, the conference went on an extensive deliberation on TRADOC schedule of activities, command philosophy, production of TRADOC Schedule of Duties Handbook, new work ethics/expectations, oversight function of NA schools and training in general. The Conference also discussed linkage of Doctrine to strategic documents/guidance, NA Training Policy-Concept Development, new Training regime, Draft Military Strategy, and work place management/canteen. These were all aimed at enhancing productivity of personnel and security general. According to the Commander, "we must achieve why TRADOC NA was established".
Also, as part of the Command efforts towards the welfare of personnel and their families, some pertinent issues were raised. These include the improvement of the Cantonment Schools Infrastructure to create a conducive learning environment for the students, the need to empower the women and youths of the cantonment which will not give room for indolence among them. Also, the need to ensure a viable Mammy Market void of dubious activities, Mess activities and decent accommodation for officers and soldiers was considered. Finally, the Chief of Staff Brig Gen IM Abdullahi highlighted events for the Third Quarter and the Commander summed up the session.
Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Minna on Thursday 15 July, 2021 held the Final Coordinating Conference for the forthcoming Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination (SSCQE) at the TRADOC Conference room. In his opening remarks, the Commander TRADOC Maj Gen SO Olabanji, who also doubles as President of the examination stated that "I want this examination to be the best and every department must set a standard higher than what it has been in the past". Speaking further, he reiterated the commitment of TRADOC NA in making sure that this year’s SSCQE receives the best attention it requires. He implored the team not to leave any stone unturned to have the best. During the Coordinating Conference, brief was received from the Recce Team for SSCQE 2021 which centered on the venues for the examination, accommodation, feeding, and transportation among others
.Also during the Conference, Brig Gen OA Orakwe, who was the representative of Headquarters Infantry Corps Center (which was the host formation), congratulated the Commander for his new appointment as the Commander TRADOC NA. He reiterated the efforts of the Center to ensure that this year’s SSCQE 2021 was a success. Other activities that took place during the Final Coordinating Conference includes inspection of the examination materials, computers, accessories and vehicles. Thereafter, the Chief of Staff TRADOC NA, Brig Gen IM Abdullahi addressed the soldiers participating in the SSCQE 2021 to live above board and should avoid anything contrary to the laid down examination procedures.
The Conference was attended by the Commander TRADOC Maj Gen SO Olabanji, the Chief of Training Maj Gen A Bande, Reps of Department of Training Army Headquarters and Infantry Corps Center, Directors, Principal Staff officers, senior officers and other officers of TRADOC NA.

The newly posted in Commander Training and Doctrine Command, Maj Gen SO Olabanji took over the mantle of leadership of the Training and Doctrine Command from Maj Gen AS Maikobi in a handing and taking over ceremony on Thursday 8th July 2021. Prior to Maj Gen Olabanji’s appointment as the 43rd Commander Training and Doctrine Command, he was the Chief of Training in HQ TRADOC NA. During the handing over ceremony, a minute silence was observed in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen I Attahiru and 11 others who lost their lives in a plane crash. The prayers were offered by the clerics for the eternal rest of the souls of the departed faithfuls. In his remarks, Maj Gen AS Maikobi urged officers to give the same level of support that was accorded him to the new Commander. In line with the Nigerian Army traditions and customs, the outgoing Commander decorated his successor with the insignia of the office and handed the flag of office to him. Thereafter, the inspection of the quarter guard and the hoisting of a new flag to signify the beginning of a new command
. Addressing officers of the Command, the new Commander urged officers to put in their best and begin to change the narrative by their attitude and perceptions about the Command. He added that suggestions and ideas that will improve the quality of life in the barracks and working environment are welcome. According to him "be ready in changing the image of TRADOC NA". Speaking further "my administration will be based on justice, equity and everybody will be part and parcel of decision making process", he explained. He emphasized that he will make sure that everybody is carried along to contribute their own developmental and transformational ideas. While discussing further, Maj Gen Olabanji added that as a Commander he will bring a lasting legacy to TRADOC NA. He therefore urged personnel to shun negative attitudes towards work and be ready to work by changing their mindset about TRADOC NA.
