The Department of Doctrine and Combat Development (DDCD) is one of the 4 department that make up TRADOC NA. The department is headed by a major general who is the chief of Doctrine and combat Development (CDCD). By TRADOC NA hierarchy, the CDCD is the next most senior officer to the commander TRADOC NA.



a. Formulation and evaluation of doctrine policy for the NA

b. Formulation and evaluation of combat development policy for the NA.

c. Study and advice on force structure for the NA.

d. Evaluation of military history and war gaming.

e. Evaluation of the state of art of the military profession.

f. Liaising with appropriate agencies to carry out threat and security analysis.

g. Formulation of concepts for the NA in the area of tactics, weaponry, etc.

h. Assessing the combat and tactical development concepts as applied by NA schools during training period and in formations and units during exercises.

i. Thinking on continuous basis on how the NA will be fighting the present day and future wars, type of force and equipment needed for such engagement.

j. Organize in-house seminars for TRADOC NA officers on wide range of issues to enrich the officers intellectual capabilities.

k. Advice the Comd on all doctrine and combat development matters.

l. Writing, review and updating NA teaching manuals and precis for NA schools in conjunction with other departments.

m. Organize seminars and conferences.

l. Evaluation and assessment of NA schools on doctrinal matters.

m. Monitoring and evaluating training, exercises and operations in accordance with NA doctrine.
